Breast Cancer Scare: My Personal Update
The other day, I shared that I might have been diagnosed with breast cancer. Thankfully, after further tests, I learned it wasn’t cancer. Instead, it turned out to be a fibroadenoma—a benign lump.
I can’t tell you how relieved I was! Still, this experience reminded me how important it is for women to understand their bodies. One book that really helped me during this time is:
👉 Breasts: The Owner’s Manual by Dr. Kristi Funk
This guide explains how to reduce breast cancer risk, understand different breast types, and make informed treatment choices.
Which Type of Breast Do You Have?
I learned that my breasts are Type D: dense and complex. Many women fall into this category. Dense breast tissue makes it harder to detect cancerous cells, so women like me are often recommended to get annual mammograms.
If you’re unsure about your breast type, I highly recommend asking your doctor. Knowing this information can help you stay proactive about your health.
New Technology for Breast Cancer Detection
While listening to TED Talks Daily, I came across Dr. Simone Francese’s presentation on a groundbreaking way to detect breast cancer early.
This innovation could potentially replace painful and sometimes embarrassing mammograms in the future. If you’re interested in women’s health and early cancer detection, it’s worth listening to her talk!
Final Thoughts
This health scare was a wake-up call for me. I’m grateful it wasn’t breast cancer, but I also realized how crucial it is to:
- Understand your breast type
- Get regular screenings
- Stay informed about new medical advances
