About Goddess’ Bangs

Welcome to Goddess’ Bangs — a personal blog about New York, culture, music, learning, food, travel, and the experiences that make life interesting.
I started Goddess’ Bangs as a place to share the things I discover, learn, and experience while living in New York City.
New York has been a major part of my life for many years. It is a city where different cultures, languages, people, and ideas constantly meet. Living here has given me countless opportunities to learn, explore, and look at familiar things from new perspectives.
This blog is a collection of those experiences.
New York

New York can be exciting, challenging, confusing, inspiring, and sometimes all of these things at once. I write about everyday life in the city, including transportation, neighborhoods, housing, safety, education, restaurants, Japanese grocery stores, and other practical information that may be useful to people living in or visiting New York.
I also enjoy sharing the small discoveries that make the city special.
Culture & Learning

Living between different cultures has made me naturally curious about language, education, and the ways people live and communicate.
Goddess’ Bangs includes articles about English and Japanese learning, education, books, cultural differences, and experiences of life in New York.
I also share my experiences as a musician and artist living and working in the United States, including information about the Artist Visa.
These articles are based on my own experiences and research and are not intended to replace professional legal or other advice.
Music

Music has always been an important part of my life.
I am a musician and music teacher based in New York City and write about music, piano, performances, musicians, composers, music education, and my experiences as an artist.
For me, music is not simply about playing the right notes. It is also about listening, discovering your own voice, and finding ways to express ideas and feelings that cannot always be put into words.
Lifestyle, Food & Travel

I love discovering good food, interesting places, and things that make everyday life more enjoyable.
New York’s incredible diversity makes it an especially interesting place to explore food and culture. I particularly enjoy discovering Japanese restaurants, grocery stores, and products in and around the city.
I also write about travel and places outside New York when I have an experience worth sharing.
About Maegami
Maegami is my writer’s name.
Hi there
I write about the things that genuinely interest me—New York, music, culture, learning, food, travel, and the unexpected experiences that come with living in a constantly changing city.
My background as a musician and teacher naturally influences the way I see the world, but Goddess’ Bangs is not simply a music blog or a personal portfolio.
It is a place to explore many different sides of life.
Why “Goddess’ Bangs”?
The name Goddess’ Bangs comes from an ancient Greek idea about opportunity and good fortune.
In Greek mythology, the goddess Kairos represented the right moment—the brief moment when an opportunity appears.
She was said to have a lock of hair, or “forelock,” at the front of her head. You had to grasp her hair when she came toward you, because once she passed, there was nothing to hold on to.
For me, Goddess’ Bangs represents recognizing opportunities and having the courage to seize them. This blog is about discovering those moments—in New York, in art, in music, in culture, and in everyday life.
The story has a special meaning for me, and it is one of the reasons I chose Goddess’ Bangs as the name for this blog. I like the idea that a name can carry a story, a little mystery, and a connection to something much older than ourselves.
